For some of us here, Loft Zouk is like home for us. Despite being super-tired, I knew I had to go and say bye to it with the Lapsap and Twilight Actiongirl boys celebrating the last week of Loft before the big renovation. It was super super packed, but super fun. Here’s what you missed.

Don’t miss out on the two final Twilight Actiongirl nights at Loft, Zouk on Friday and Merdeka Eve on Sunday. Don’t worry, it’s not TAG’s goodbye yet. They’re just moving to a supersonic new home.

Deepset’s Close to Cure

PJ’s post-rock band, Deepset is all ready to launch their debut album tomorrow, 29th August @ Wondermilk Cafe. All excited about signing on to Singaporean label, Kitty Wu, and they will share the stage with Sforzando! (apparently playing for the last time) and Teenage Glory for the Wasted. If it rains tomorrow, even better. The best type of music to listen to while sipping hot tea and delicious Cuppacakes! Entrance is free, but food is not. Bring extra-moolah for the band’s cd! Event starts at 9pm until midnight.

Dear Juice readers, we have something really special for you. Presenting, a sound.

a sound’s objective - “Support the Asia sound, make proud with this sound, create and declare this sound of statement to the World”

Why does Seven Records Management actually have this brand? We asked ourselves how we could keep alive and spread the sound from Asia to the competitive electronic dance music world. The answer was easy. We would need a brand that belongs to Asia serves as a stage for our promising Asia DJs/Producers, and we are now founding “a sound”.

“a sound” was started by creating its own blog/website – http://asiasound.sevenrecords.net, as we strongly belief that Internet will be the easiest and effective medium to promote and create awareness on the brand. Podcast session was created at the blog/website to share the sound from the Asia DJs/Producers from different nations in the region in weekly basis. It has been featured Asia DJs/Producers like Norman Chung (Singapore), Adrian Wee (Singapore), DJ Vertigo (Taiwan), Arjun (India), Ben Huang (China), Mickey Zhang (China), Dio (China), Dezz (Malaysia), Q’hey (Japan), Kazu Kimura (Japan) just to name a few for the past.

Exciting plans are now in the pipeline to organize a club night event series that carry the “a sound” brand, and also the “a sound” Asia tour right after we have the “a sound” compilation album released by end of the year or early next year. Watchmen watch?

I was Tumblr-ing around when I came across a mini-review of the Watchmen. Though this person couldn’t reveal the details, he/she did mention that it’s an awesome movie, even better than what he/she expected. The interesting bit of his/her entry was, this person mentioned the trailer did not do justice to the movie.

Ah, the trailer. By now, you’d seen it already. A fan of the graphic novel, I can’t really say I love the trailer to bits, nor I hate it. I’ll give my review when it’s actually out at cinemas. But if there’s one bone I can pick with the trailer, it’ll be the Smashing Pumpkins’ track they used.

Smashing Pumpkins has seven albums and Zack Synder (Watchmen’s director) had to pick the same song SP did for Batman & Robin. Yes, that nipple-friendly Batman franchise. The Grammy-winning ‘The End is the Beginning is the End’ is apparently remade and retitled as ‘The Beginning is the End is the Beginning’ for the Watchmen’s soundtrack.

I say wth! Plenty of creativity and good music around. Why recycle?

New Judge on Idol!

In case you haven’t heard, there’s a new judge on American Idol. And yes, Paula is not the only girl there anymore. In comes songwriter, producer, and singer Kara Dioguardi who will join the panel of the hit reality show alongside Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and of course, Simon Cowell. We wonder, what spurs the idea of adding another judge in and how will she fare with the crew? We’re just as excited to see how it goes as you are!

Although the Olympics might have ended but The Phelps Machine a.k.a Michael Phelps has definitely made a mark in the world of sports with trashing the competition and making history in a superhero manner and boy are we amazed! 8 gold medals and 7 world records? OMG! All eyes will be on him in the coming 2012 London Olympics so, let’s see what this swimming wonder has to offer in years to come. We know we’ll be keeping an eye on him!
